The Charlatans, who straddle the line between Madchester and Britpop, celebrate the 30th anniversary of their third album with a deluxe edition! The Charlatans, a UK pop band whose distinctive sound of Hammond organ, brash guitar riffs, and Northern Soul-influenced rhythms has kept them consistently active for the past 30 years, have released a deluxe edition of their third album, Up To Our Hips, on Beggars Arkive in celebration of its 30th anniversary. Released in 1994, Up To Our Hips is a departure from the bright pop songs of the past, with a darker, heavier organ sound. At the time of recording, Rob, the organist who plays an important role in the sound, was involved in a legal case in which he was charged as a member of an armed robbery, and the band feared that Rob would be sent to prison for years. The lyrics on this album give a sense of the stress the band was under at the time.This deluxe edition includes the original album plus 10 bonus tracks selected by frontman Tim Burgess, including outtakes, alternate mixes, live versions, BBC sessions and more!
