Nataraja is a four-piece fusion psychedelic rock band from the UK, whose music combines the complexity of Indian classical music with the power and depth of fusion and psychedelic rock. This album is composed entirely of live recordings made on stage, and although no second takes are used, the performance is overwhelming to the listener. Guitarist Jack Jennings has a deep knowledge of Indian classical music, having studied with sitar virtuosos Rupa Panesar and Shakir Parvez Khan. His previous band, Ashoka, also fused Indian music with rock/jazz and was signed to a label run by Jeff Barlow of Portishead fame. Drummer and producer Andy Edwards has been selected to tour the world with Robert Plant, an undisputed rock legend, and has played on albums by FROST* and IQ. As a drum tech, he has also worked with Terry Bozio, Kenny Aronoff, Thomas Lang, Marco Minnemann, and Mike Portnoy.John Jowitt is a 17-time winner of the British Classic Rock Society's Best Bassist Award. best known for his work with IQ, he has recorded five studio albums with FROST*, recorded and played live with ARENA, ARC, and JADIS, and performed live with John Wetton, Uriah Heep, Peter Banks (Yes), Tim Bowness, and John Young, among others. An electronic composer and modular synthesist who also performs under the name WAVE TENET, Richard Charles Boxley's music draws inspiration from artists such as Brian Eno, Aphex Twin, and the Four Tet. Firmly rooted in the ambient electronic world, Richard's music contributes to creating a haunting sound with pure tonal and textural beauty. We went into the gig with very minimal rehearsal, and there was a mutual trust that once we started playing, great music would come out of it."All we had to do was keep an open mind and play as we were inspired.
