Re-release of complete recordings of Ciccolini's works with additional previously unreleased material on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of his birth and the 10th anniversary of his death. Aldo Ciccolini (1925-2015) began his career in 1950 when he won the prestigious Marguerite Long International Competition. Talented from an early age, he studied thoroughly and was influenced by the traditions of Busoni, Liszt, and bel canto. This gave his playing a deeply emotional quality, and he described himself as a "lirico spinto pianist. His extensive discography, released primarily on Warner/Elato, includes complete piano works by Liszt, Saint-Saëns, and Sevrac, as well as masterful performances of Debussy and Satie. Throughout his career, he was a prolific recording artist and had an extensive discography. Most of the material is based on the 56 CD set released by the former EMI in 2009, plus four additional CDs of additional material. CD57: Beethoven's Piano Concertos Nos. 3 & 4 recorded live in Greece in 2008 CD58: Salieri's Piano Concerto recorded for Phonit Chetra in 1978.
