David Surkamp's distinctive high-pitched vocals and the band's melancholic, hard-hitting yet technical sound made this '70s North American progressive rock band popular among hard rock/heavy metal fans. Their 1976 album, released after signing with Columbia Records in the US, has been reissued on CD in 2013 by UK's Esoteric Recordings, featuring a 24-bit digital remaster! Following Mike Safron's (dr) departure, the album features Bill Bruford (dr) of YES/KING CRIMSON, plus numerous guests including Andy Mackay (sax) of ROXY MUSIC, Michael Brecker (sax), Elliot Randall (g), and Gavyn Wright (vln). While an extension of the previous work, this album showcases an even more diverse musicality encompassing Jazz and Honky Tonk, emphasizing mellowness and lyricism over technicality. It's a superb work where the band's unique blend of "heartfelt emotion" and sophistication is perfectly balanced, evident in tracks like 'She Came Shining', 'Valkerie', and 'Early Morning' with its brilliant string arrangements.The master uses a new digital remastered source distinct from the current German Rockville release. While the level is low, individual sounds remain clear while delivering an analog-like natural sound.
