Description:
The Century Orchestra Osaka was founded in 1989 with Uriel Segal as its first permanent conductor, and its debut concert was in 1990. Last year and this year mark the 20th anniversary of the founding of the orchestra. The Century Symphony Orchestra has recorded three major pieces for this memorial year. The Century Symphony Orchestra has maintained its relatively small size since its establishment, and has always advocated precise and agile music that makes the most of its characteristics. While Numajiri performs many premieres of modern and contemporary works and new pieces, Koizumi takes up the major works of the Romantic school one after another, highlighting the individuality of both conductors. Koizumi's active performance of Bruckner, which has been performed relatively infrequently because of the orchestra's size, reveals new aspects of the Century Symphony Orchestra's appeal. Koizumi's performance, which is large in scale yet precise in detail, throws a wrench into the image of Bruckner's grandeur and gravity, and is something that can only be heard with the current Koizumi/Century Orchestra of Osaka.
