The summit of Bohm's late-period Brahms. The symphony cycle won the 1976 Record Academy Award. This eternal reference is newly remastered from the 2018 DSD master. Recorded with the Vienna Philharmonic when Bohm (1894-1981) was 80, this complete Brahms cycle followed the unprecedented boom around their first Japan visit—released in Japan by late 1975 and winning the next year's Record Academy Award in the symphony category, sparking a major movement. Bohm's solid, esteemed Brahms remains highly regarded to this day.
