The fifth collection of piano music by Italian composer Camillo Toni (1922-1993), a lifelong lover of the piano. His "Improvisation" and "Exercise in D-flat major" written at the age of 13 are reminiscent of Chopin and Liszt, while "Pieces for Piano" composed two years later already shows Toni's unique style, departing from tonality. The two cadenzas for Mozart's piano concerto at the end are a tribute to his teacher, Benedetti Michelangeli.
