Franck, Saint-Saëns: Piano Quintet / The Kiri Quintet The Kiri Quintet was formed in 1974 in accordance with the wishes of the late Hideo Saito. Since winning the Hideo Saito Prize in the chamber music division of the Minshō Competition that same year, the ensemble has performed extensively both in Japan and abroad, having held 17 regular concert series. They have performed nearly all existing piano quintets and continue to seek out new scores for piano quintets. Incidentally, the name “Kiri” comes from the fact that all five members are graduates of Toho Gakuen.
