Century violinist Yehudi Menuhin celebrated the 20th anniversary of his death on March 12, 2019. It brings back memories of his work, which was featured in newspapers and on TV at the time and moved many people. In 1951, there was a boy who lost his family in the war and lived alone with his mother. One day, the boy learned that the world-famous violinist Menuhin was to give a concert in Japan. In order to attend the concert, the boy saves money little by little from his daily earnings as a shoeshiner. He lives hard, holding on to hope in the face of adversity, and an unexpected miracle awaits him. The story of "A Boy and His Violin" is based on the true story of a violin given to a shoeshine boy during a concert in Japan in 1951, just after the end of the war. This film includes a rare 35-minute reading of the story, recorded by the author Ippei Taki himself on tape before the book was published, as well as famous violin pieces arranged according to the order of the program of the Sasebo concert that the boy would have heard.
