The City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, which will come to Japan in late June 2016 for a nationwide tour (7 concerts in total) with the most popular Japanese conductor of the moment, Kazuki Yamada, has been under the leadership of Simon Rattle, the current Artistic Director and Permanent Conductor of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, since 1980 when he became Chief Conductor of the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra. During his 18 years of leadership from 1980, when Simon Rattle became Chief Conductor of the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, to 1998, the orchestra has become one of the world's leading symphony orchestras in its region. This is an affordable release of Mahler's works, which are Rattle's best-known works, as well as the highlights of his relationship with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, in their original sound sources. New commentary, lyrics, and bilingual translation are included.
