Description:
Paul Reinke's masterpiece, including "The Winds of Berlin," "Madame Luna," recorded in its entirety! Fritz, a mechanical engineer, and his girlfriend Marie want to go to the moon. After much struggle, Fritz builds his own balloon and arrives at the moon with his friends. There, he is wooed by the moon goddess "Luna". However, Prince Sternschnuppe, who loves her, brings Marie back from the earth and the two make up. The two make up and return to Berlin with their friends in this wild tale. The "Berlin Wind" played in the play is a familiar tune to Berliners as it is the last piece played at the Waldbuehne Concert, a summer tradition of the Berlin Philharmonic. The performance was characterized by the fact that the music written by Linke was not cut, nor was the script by Heinz Bolten-Beckers altered in any way, and everything was done according to the original score. This complete recording offers not only Linke's original melodies, but also an elaborately contrived ensemble and a rousing finale. The cast is also excellent, with the title role sung by renowned soprano Maria Layer, and veteran René Corot as Prince Sternschnuppe. The key to the story, Madame Pusebach, is played by Barbara Donner, who has a strong presence. Naxos Japan
