This album features works by two composers active in Rome between the two world wars. Iditta Salviucci (née Palpariolo) had a strong interest in Respighi, having studied with his wife, Elsa Olivieri-Sangiacomo, at the Conservatorio di Santa Cecilia, and her "Three Love Songs," published in 1932, is a sophisticated work with an oriental flavor. It was dedicated to his teacher. It was dedicated to his teacher. Fukuko," the pen name of the Italian poet Attilia Prina Pozzi, who wrote the poem, is said to have translated it from a Japanese poem. Later, in 1934, Iditta married Giovanni Salviucci, a composer who was rapidly gaining popularity at the time, and they had three children, but Giovanni died prematurely in 1937 at the age of 30. This album also includes Giovanni's songs and his "Chamber Symphony for 17 Instruments" from 1933. This work is a taste of Giovanni's advanced compositional techniques, which followed the neoclassical style popular in Europe at the time, under the tutelage of Casella. Naxos Japan
