Vox Luminis has already released many masterpieces on the Ricercar and ALPHA labels and has received worldwide acclaim. This album, produced by Vox Luminis together with elite instrumentalists from Freiburg, Germany, one of Europe's foremost centers of ancient music, features music from the 17th century German-speaking world, the area in which they excel the most! The group has long been highly acclaimed for its recordings of Schütz's "Funeral with Music," Fuchs's Requiem, and other worship music dedicated to the dead, but this time the program is dominated by a masterpiece by the Salzburg master Biber, which has never been featured on the album. The instrumentalists include Veronika Skuplik, Petra Murejans, Hille Pearl and Lee Santana, and the trombonist Simen van Mechelen (......), who plays the sackbut (trombone).
