With three familiar pieces, "Carnival of the Animals," "Peter and the Wolf," and "Introduction to Orchestral Music for Youth," plus Ravel's "Ma mer Roi," this is truly a powerful program, not only conducted by Allsop, but also narrated by himself. In addition to the playful and vibrant music, the "Youth Introduction to Orchestral Music" is a unique feature of the video, allowing the audience to get to know not only the sound of the instruments being played, but also their actual form. Believing that "music has the power to change the lives of those who listen to it," Olthrop is also passionate about educating the children of the future and gives a wonderful performance in this video. The Britten-Pears Orchestra was founded in 2012 as part of the Britten-Pears Young Artists Program, established by Benjamin Britten and Peter Pears over 40 years ago.Young players from around the world submit audition videos on YouTube, and about 120 members are selected. After undergoing rigorous training, they are now active worldwide, touring at their home base, the Snape Maltings Concert Hall, as well as in Europe.
