A collection of works by contemporary Belgian organist and composer Mernier. Known for his tonal works in classical form, he has been releasing more and more albums in the past few years. This new collection of Mernier's works is the result of a joint project between three Belgian cultural institutions: the Orchestre Symphonique de la Monnaie, the Musée des Beaux-Arts, and the Orchestre National de Belgique, and features works commissioned by each of the two orchestras. The collection of songs based on poems by Dickinson, the great American poetess, has made a great impression on young female chorus members who were not familiar with Dickinson's poetry. The "Organ Concerto," conducted by Hugh Wolfe and played on the organ by the virtuoso Olivier Latry, is a record of the first performance on the renovated organ of the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Brussels.
