Mutantis, the poster child of Brazilian Tropicáliaismo, is the shocking first album by Arnaldo Baptista, Sergio Diaz, and Rita Lee, who are also known as the "Beatles of Brazil" for introducing the British and American rock sound to Brazil in conjunction with the Tropicália movement of the late 1960's. The first album was released in 1968 by Os Mutantes, a trio formed in Sao Paulo by Arnaldo Baptista, Sergio Diaz, and Rita Lee. Their debut album, which caused controversy among conservatives at the time for its radical costumes and performances, is filled with songs full of free ideas that seem to compete with traditional pop and bossa nova, and is a perfect balance of avant-garde and extremely pop, which makes it an excellent album. It is a perfect balance of avant-garde and pop, which makes this album a masterpiece of Brazilian psychedelic music.Bonus track includes additional sound recording with Caetano Veloso at that time. Includes obi commentary.
