Description:

Board raised from an untranslated needleboard! Furtwängler & Berlin Philharmonic realistic sound of Brahms No. 1! In the analog era, it is said that there was no better recording medium than vinyl records. However, records were only available on the condition that the needle had not been threaded and that the storage environment was good. If these conditions are met, records can retain their fresh sound for a long time. The record of Furtwängler's Brahms First Symphony, recently discovered in Osaka, fulfills these conditions. It is rare nowadays to find an analog record from the heyday of analog recording in this condition. I dropped the needle on the record and was amazed at the powerful and realistic sound it reproduced. There was no noise at all, and it was as if we were listening to a master tape that had just been recorded. I had the illusion that Furtwängler was actually conducting in front of me. Many people consider this performance to be Furtwängler's tentative best, but in terms of spirit, there are many who prefer the performance of the same piece with the North German Radio Symphony Orchestra in 1951.However, the spirit of the performance seems to have been perfectly reproduced in this reissue, and this performance, which is superior overall, may be considered the best in both name and reality. In the margin, I have included Beethoven's First Symphony from Furtwängler's last concert. It is a surprisingly bright performance. We hope you will enjoy it as well.
