The collaboration between these two masters of modern Kansas swing, who have entered their season of maturity, is beginning to flow more smoothly with each passing session. In this album, too, Jay Leinhardt's swingy and stable bass guitar carries the whole song as if it were sung from the heart. Scott Hamilton made his debut on "Concord Jazz" in 1977 with his Ben Webster-like bass charm, and pleased many old fans and opened the door to "senior jazz," a "middle-of-the-road" style. He became popular among young jazz fans and eventually attracted female fans as well. The reason for this may be the bluesiness of Zoot Sims, the white jazz bluesman who still attracts many jazz fans. Higgins also played mainly in Chicago, and although it is difficult to imagine the old flavor from the refined piano of recent years, he released albums on intermediate labels and gradually established a reputation as a "pianist with a pin" while playing wonderful phrases as backing vocals. He gradually established his reputation as "Ping's pianist" with his albums on the Intermediate label and his wonderful phrases with vocal backing.The appeal of this album is its flowing, fluid phrases and soothing, cool tone, which is similar to Hamilton's. The solid ballad "Slow Boat to China" is good, but the slightly swingy "Slow Boat to China" is where the charm of these two musicians is concentrated. I like their fun, swinging, easy-to-understand jazz music! Such a voice can be heard in their music. Here's to Leonhardt's honest jazz spirit, which makes you roar in response to their swing.
