Karin Krog, born in Oslo, Norway in 1937, and Bengt Hallberg, born in Gothenburg, Sweden in 1932, are two of Scandinavia's leading jazz musicians, and have long been active internationally while laying the foundation of European jazz. Both are giant stars who have been active internationally for many years while laying the foundations of European jazz. This duet album by these two historical and legendary musicians is now complete. Bengt Hallberg has been away from performing for the past 10 years to take care of his wife's illness, and this album marks his return to form and shows that he is alive and well. The two had a happy reunion at the Oslo Jazz Festival the day before this recording and truly enjoyed performing with each other. This new album is a celebration of the return of Bengt Hallberg," said Karin Krog, who once said of playing with him, "He has been a central figure in Swedish jazz for 50 years. I can honestly say that I have never played with a more sensitive and accomplished accompanist.He is one of the finest and most inventive jazz pianists in Europe this century. I am proud and happy to have had the opportunity to work with him." Bengt Hallberg was once quoted as saying, "I am proud and happy to have had the opportunity to work with him. Bengt Hallberg does not show off his piano technique, but rather he and Carlin have carefully selected for this album nine great American compositions written between 1927 and 1975, one English evergreen, and two simple originals by Carlin. And two of Carlin's originals are performed simply, beautifully, and with extreme sensitivity. The recording was made at Rainbow Studios in Oslo. The engineer is the world-renowned Jan-Erik Kongshaug. Here is a masterpiece of duets by a giant star that is transparently beautiful and warmly embraces the listener's heart. Spice of Life
