Description:
The second album "KAI NO MICHI" (1990) by Mieko Shimizu, sister of Yasuaki Shimizu and known for her collaboration on the masterpiece "DEMENTOS," which was also popular overseas, is a masterpiece that incorporates many elements of world music that was becoming popular at the time. From the late 80's to the present, Mieko Shimizu has been active in multiple genres, including releases under the name Apache 61 on Haruomi Hosono's "daisyworld discs" label and participation in solo works by Mick Karn and Masami Tsuchiya. After moving to the U.K. in 1987, Shimizu has been working with Dominique Breathes, an up-and-coming producer at the time who worked with Depeche Mode and other artists, using the latest technology, and inviting musicians with unique characteristics such as Gavin Harrison and Chris Cutler, as well as her brother, Yasuaki Shimizu, to create a new generation of dance music. The album is an ambitious work that pursues a new era of dance music. A3 "Indian Afternoon" is an exotic dance song with a Middle Eastern beat, solid trumpet tone, and chorus work. B1 "Blue Man" and B2 "Peach" feature the saxophone of his brother Yasuaki. The album contains 9 tracks including B4 "Two on the Beach" with Afro percussion and a mysterious looping chorus. This is one of the best pieces of stateless exoticism that successfully digests the trends of the times!
