Gregg Allman, vocalist for the Allman Brothers Band, re-released his two albums as a solo artist in the 80's after a long absence on 2-in-1! Disc 1 includes 1987's "I'm No Angel". The title track was his masterpiece as a solo artist, reaching #1 on the Billboard Rock Charts, and the album sold over 500,000 copies. Disc 2 contains 1988's Just Before the Bullets Fly. This two-disc set offers vocals with a stronger soul and AOR flavor than those of the Allmans' days. Gregg Allman is a vocalist and keyboardist born in Nashville in 1947. After graduating from high school, he formed Hourglass with his brother Duane and released two albums, but the group disbanded. In 1969, he formed the Allman Brothers Band, which released "S.T.," "Idlewild South" in 1970, and "At Fillmore East" in 1971. In the same year, he released his first solo album, "Laid Back," followed by "Playin' Up a Storm" in 1977. In the 1980s, he focused on his solo career, and "I'm No Angel," released on Epic in 1987, was a hit.The following year, "Just Before the Bullets Fly" was released in 1988, but it was not a hit. He continued to release "Searching for Simplicity" in 1997, "Low Country Blues" in 1999, and "Southern Blood" in 2005, but he passed away at the age of 69 in 2005 after suffering from cancer and other illnesses since 2007.
