A must have for soft rock/AOR fans! The only album by the Hawaiian acoustic mellow band Blue Light is finally available on CD (original release: 1978). This is (probably) the only album released in 1978 by Blue Light, a four-piece band from Honolulu, Hawaii. The quartet consists of Michelle Carr (vocals), the only member in red, and three male members who play keyboards (Fender Rhodes & acoustic piano) and acoustic guitars. Backed by bass, tabla, vibraphone French horn, alto saxophone, flute, valve trombone, and string section, the band has a solid, high-quality soft rock-style production that could be called self-produced. It was recorded at Pinewood Studios in Vancouver, Canada. The overall impression is somewhere between 60's soft rock and contemporary AOR. From the beginning [1], acoustic guitar and moody saxophone create a tropical mood, and cool strings and vocal harmonies overlap pleasantly. The vibraphone featured in the interlude is perfect. The neat vocal harmonies with Michelle at the core of the song kept the listener feeling as if they were floating on a cotton cloud from beginning to end.Michelle's beautiful voice, which is rich in volume and seems to penetrate deep into the heart, with a background in vocal music, is most pleasing to listen to. Her magnificent orchestration in [10], which evokes European elegance, makes her sound like a Renaissance Annie Haslam.
