Streetwise was founded in 1982 by Arthur Baker, a legendary producer who skillfully used the TR-808 rhythm machine (a.k.a. Yaoya) to develop the electro sound of New York in the 1980s. The label, whose catalog consists mostly of 12" releases, has been shrouded in mystery until now, but now all of its sources have been unearthed to create a compilation that can be called a definitive work of the label! The compilation is packed with cutting-edge NY 80's masterpieces, including the label's flagship release, Rocker's Revenge led by Arthur Baker, as well as many first-time CD releases!
