One Autolix Point Never (OPN), a quiet but overwhelmingly influential force in the contemporary music scene, has released their album "Tranquilizer" on Warp, revealing the fantastic and surreal world of sound that only OPN can create. The starting point for "Tranquilizer," which means "tranquilizer," was a chance sight. Lying in the dentist's chair, vibrating against my teeth, I looked up at the cover of a fluorescent light. A print of a blue sky and palm trees on the gray tile ceiling - a cheesy artificial paradise. At that moment, OPN asks. What is the sound of this world? What is the sound of this flimsy reality, where the everyday and the extraordinary barely exist in balance? Moreover, the creative trigger was the incident a few years ago when a huge sample library suddenly disappeared from the Internet archive: hundreds of classic sample CDs from the 90s and 2000s--sequences, beats, pads, and virtual instruments.In an instant, the soundtracks that have provided shadows to countless films, from "Silent Hill" to "The X-Files," were swallowed by darkness. It was an experience like a cultural rupture, a ruthless severing of the line connecting the memories of an era. Fortunately, the nearly lost fragments of sound were rescued once again and brought back to life as a cultural archive. This work envelops the listener with surreal and deep textures, questioning what escaping to the past means and what awaits us beyond. (1/2)
