Berlin's current post-punk spearhead, AUS, has released two albums on STATIC AGE. The apocalypse-sounding three-song EP titled "Der Schone Schein" (Beautiful Splendor) will be released in 2024 on STATIC AGE and Japan's MOUSE label, and the MOUSE handled version will come with an additional sticker with Japanese notation. The heavy rhythms and minimal synths make this Berlin post-punk sound jittery and addictive, and fans of 80s German underground acts like Xmal Deutschland and Malaria! ++++ The world is in deep, dark and disturbing times and Berlin's AUS is the soundtrack of the times. This 3 song EP has everything you loved and more on their 2nd LP released in 2020. Deeply pounding drum heavy rhythms and thunderous, melodic bass drive the songs, while minimalist synths and scratchy guitars bring the bleakness to a peak. The vocals flit back and forth between Siouxsie and Xmal Deutschland, adding further to the boredom and disdain. If this had been an obscure 7" vinyl released in 1979, everyone would have wanted it.
