Zubonz’s first new album in nine years, *UMALAND*, is being released as an import vinyl LP via an overseas label! Zubonz formed in 1994. Following their album debut in 1997, they were handpicked to perform at the first Fuji Rock Festival, and since the following year, they have released albums and toured extensively in the U.S., Canada, Australia, and other countries, amassing a large fan base both domestically and internationally. They are particularly respected by fellow musicians and have achieved near-legendary status. Apart from leader Don Matsuo (Vo, Gt) and Matta (Key, Art), the band’s lineup has undergone frequent changes (past members include Atsushi Matsushita of Zazen Boys, Takaki Okita of Nothing's Carved In Stone), and their activities had stalled since the COVID-19 pandemic. However, to mark the band’s 30th anniversary in 2024, they released a greatest hits album via the Canadian label P572. With new members Leo Saigusa on bass and Gaku Ouchi (Hedigans, ex-Glim Spanky) on drums, their flexible and funky performances have reached a new level. Many fans agree that the current lineup is the strongest the band has ever had. They maintain a freestyle approach to live shows by not deciding the setlist in advance, resulting in thrilling performances that are truly one-of-a-kind.
