Brouwer (1939-)

Description:

Includes three new and world premiere recordings by Brouwer! Cauvin's new album is a new album of Cauvin's heart, which brings out the variety of tones and techniques in his miniatures as never before. French guitarist Thibaut Cauvin's remarkable new album is now available. Like the albums of Igor Levitt and Jonas Kaufmann, which we introduced earlier, this album was produced during the period of curfew and voluntary retirement from performing due to the Corona disaster. During his time away from performing and confined to his home, Cauvin created quite a stir with his #BrouwerChallenge, a month-long online daily performance of Brouwer's exercises, which was widely covered by the media, including the famous "Figaro" newspaper. The key to Cauvin's project was to showcase the appeal of Browell's pieces by performing them himself, and to ask two artists to present a cover of each piece. The short and melodious nature of Browell's pieces made them easy to listen to and to cover, and they received a great response on social networking sites. What's more, when the 81-year-old Brouwer learned of the response, he wrote three new exercises for Cauvin's album at his home in Cuba. This album is a re-recording of those three new pieces and the 30 pieces performed on the #BrouwerChallenge in his Paris studio in late May. Born in Cuba in 1939, Brouwer is one of the most important composers in the contemporary guitar world. He is known for his experimental approach to guitar music, always producing cutting-edge works. In particular, his works not only combine traditional styles with the latest trends, but also incorporate ethnic cultures, political situations, social phenomena, religion, art, and everything in between, making his compositions an important part of the guitarist's repertoire. Browell himself is an accomplished guitarist, and his deep knowledge of contemporary music has led him to create many new sounding guitar pieces that have never been heard before. The "Simple Exercises" are attractive pieces with clear techniques and music that guitar players need to play with great effect. In addition, each piece in the "New Simple Exercises" is a work by a famous composer (Debussy, Prokofiev, Talega, Sol...).Piazzolla, Stravinsky, etc.). The three etudes added at the end are written in memory of the social anthropologist Claude Lévi-Strauss and the philosophers Jean-Paul Sartre and Jacques Derrida. Thibault Cauvin's performance does not give the impression of meticulous research and study in technique as well as in the addition of a free style, but instead expresses the music as it was imagined, drawing vivid contrasts in the character of each piece.
