One of Giulini's masterpieces, "Don Giovanni," is now available exclusively on analog LP using 2016 remastered recordings made when Giulini was 45 years old.Giulini had begun recording with the Philharmonia Orchestra in London in 1955, and in 1958 he conducted the Royal Opera Centenary In 1959, he was asked to conduct the recording sessions of "Don Giovanni" and "The Marriage of Figaro" that Klemperer had cancelled. In this performance of Giulini's "Don Giovanni," the young Giulini's command of both gravity and lightness shone through, with Schwarzkopf's powerful Elvira, Taddei's delightful Leporello, Sutherland's sharp Donna Anna, Capuccilli's cunning sounding Madetto, the powerful and scary-looking Knight-Chief Frick, and Wechter's life-size Don Giovanni, the cast sings in a long note-value system but with sufficiently agile support.This reissue on analog LP is based on the original master tapes, remastered by Abbey Road Studios in 2016 at 24bit/96kHz. The first LP release was a 3-LP set, but this time it is a 4-LP set with more room for cutting, in a clamshell LP case with 4-language libretto (Italy, UK, Germany, and France only), 180g analog LP vinyl.
