Under the leadership of artistic director Adam Walker, the Orsino Ensemble, a flexible ensemble of five outstanding wind players, and Pavel Kolesnikov, winner of the 2012 Hornace International Piano Competition in Canada, make their Chandos debut! The "Belle Epoque" was a time of great progress in the design and manufacture of wind instruments, especially by French manufacturers, and at the same time, the professors at the rapidly expanding Paris Conservatory produced many excellent works, The collection includes dazzling wind works by Roussel, Saint-Saëns, Debussy, Chaminade, Capre, Keklan, and others from the late 19th and early 20th centuries.The orchestra features a full lineup of British artists, including Adam Walker, who was appointed principal of the London Symphony Orchestra at the age of 21; Nicholas Daniel, a master oboist and founding member of the Britten Sinfonia and the Haffner Wind Ensemble; Matthew Hunt, solo clarinetist with the Deutsche Kammerphil; Amy Harman, who has been principal of the Philharmonia Orchestra and Amy Harman, who has served as principal of the Philharmonia Orchestra and ENO, and Alec Frank-Gemmill, who has been principal of the Scottish Chamber Orchestra for 10 years and will become principal of the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra in 2019.
