Silesian String Quartet's first release of Bacewicz's complete string quartets! Polish violinist and composer Grażyna Bacewicz (1909-1969), whose recordings of violin sonatas and violin concertos have been released by Chandos, presents her seven string quartets (complete works) written between 1938 and 1965. The performance is the first time for Chandos to release these works. The Silesian String Quartet was founded in 1978 by graduates of the Szymanowski Academy of Music, and has grown to become one of Poland's leading string quartets, having been trained by such renowned quartets as La Salle, Amadeus, Juilliard, Smetana, and Alban Berg. The quartet has also premiered a number of contemporary works. The Bacewicz will be a new collection of masterpieces performed by a Polish virtuoso who has also premiered many contemporary works.
