Collins, who has recorded concertos with Weber (CHAN 10702) with his superb technique and musicality, has re-recorded Mozart's "Clarinet Concerto in A major, K.622" for the first time in about 15 years since his days with DG! In this new recording for ■Chandos, Collins once again uses the basset clarinet and plays the Swedish Chamber Orchestra. Collins himself envisioned the ideal form of "Mozart's Clarinet Concerto", and his deepened interpretation is very much looked forward to.■Collins chose to couple the new Mozart recording with Copland's "Clarinet Concerto," composed for Benny Goodman, and "Ornament Air" by Australian composer Elena Katz-Chernin (1957-), born in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
