Tim Sund is a keyboardist who began his career as a jazz pianist in the 1990s and, since the summer of 2024, has taken over from Michael Hoenig to become a member of the legendary German experimental rock band AGITATION FREE. Now, the German progressive rock band GREENDESERTTREE—formed in 2016 with Tim as leader and making their album debut in 2019 with *PROGRESSIVEWORLDS*—is back with their second album in seven years, *FIGHTINGDRAGONS*! This is a limited-edition vinyl release. Their previous album, *PROGRESSIVEWORLDS*, captivated listeners with its stylish blend of heavy yet melodic hard symphonic/neo-prog sounds—reminiscent of artists like SAGA, YES, GENESIS, and Neal Morse—overlaid with the jazz and fusion techniques and elements Tim has cultivated over more than 20 years. While continuing in that direction, this new release—thanks to the contributions of two new band members, Sascha Giebel (vocals) and Francesco Beccaro (bass)—adds even more “playfulness” and drama, resulting in a powerful album. The multi-layered sound—crafted through keyboard work utilizing vintage instruments, edgy guitars influenced by hard rock and heavy metal, and beautiful vocal harmonies—captivates the listener. Despite the band’s low profile, this is an album that boasts exceptional quality!
