The Berlin Chamber Duo of Hungarian violaist Máty Szcz and pianist Michel Gurdal, who have been the Berlin Philharmonic's first soloists since 2011, will release an album of Schumann & Franck. Schumann & Franck. Szczew studied in Hungary and Belgium, where he won prizes in various international competitions. He has since played with the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra and the Staatskapelle Dresden, and in 2011 he joined the Berlin Philharmonic as first solo viola player. Soutu has a beautiful tone, and his sound has a wonderful lift, and he plays each note with great energy and liveliness. In the Schumann and Franck sonatas, she captivates the audience with her lustrous viola-like tone and her superb technique. The viola also sings eloquently in Schumann's Lieder.
