The Swiss-based piano duo “Duo Eleria” vividly brings to life both hidden gems and staple works of Russian music. At the heart of the album is Glier’s *12 Pieces*, Op. 48. This captivating collection—which interweaves dance pieces, lyrical miniatures, and richly folkloric motifs—is being recorded in its entirety for the first time ever. Complementing it is the young Rachmaninoff’s *Six Pieces*, Op. 11. Their rich lyricism and vibrant, colorful sound fully bring out the charm of the four-hand piano format. Through their meticulous ensemble playing, this album vividly revives the lyrical beauty and refined pianism of the Russian late Romantic period. Duo Eleria was formed in 2022. Elena Suši and Valeria Berestneva met while teaching piano at the Fribourg Conservatory of Music in Switzerland; their collaboration through educational activities led them to explore four-hand piano works, which ultimately became the catalyst for forming the duo. The duo’s artistic hallmarks lie in their pursuit of a “shared resonance,” their deep attentiveness to one another, and their precise ensemble playing. They emphasize that their ideal is not so much a dialogue between two pianists, but rather functioning as a single musical entity sharing a single piano. CLAVES
