It spans from the early performance style established by Jules Demersmann in Paris, to Paul Hindemith’s structural compositional style, Ida Gotkovsky’s refined tonal beauty in the French school, to the modern and contemporary urban modernism found in the works of Erwin Schulhoff and George Gershwin. Centered on the dual essence of “the nobility of song” and “the allure of rhythm”—which Adolphe Sax entrusted to this instrument—this program spans a variety of forms, including romances, sonatas, scherzos, blues, and dance pieces, highlighting the saxophone as an “instrument of the boundary” that bridges salon culture and urban culture. The performance features Italian saxophonist Daniele Berdini, who is internationally active as both a soloist and chamber musician. He is renowned as a specialist in contemporary music, particularly the works of the master Salvatore Sciarrino, and has premiered numerous works worldwide, including with the quartet he founded. He has also appeared at numerous world-renowned music festivals, including the Salzburg Festival. He currently serves as a professor at the U.
