Nordin / Broman / Swedish Radio Symphony Orch

Description:

Nudin is an Iswedish composer who developed his own style. Also included is his trilogy for orchestra, "Voices," performed by the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra conducted by Harding! Jesper Nudin (1971-) is a composer of music with a strong emotional effect, with a background in rock, improvised music, and folk music genres. The album following "Emerging from Currents and Waves" (BIS SA-2559) includes "Roster (Voice)," a "trilogy for orchestra" that was premiered by the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra and attracted much attention, and three pieces from a series that "look back" in various ways on his past works. The two orchestral works included here are the "Trilogy for Orchestra" 《Roster(Voice)》,and 《3rd Retrospective》,which is a series of "retrospects" of his past works in various ways. Roster (Voice) is a "trilogy" based on a different kind of Swedish music with a very clear "voice". Akallan" is based on "kulning," a call to livestock. The song "Bleed" by the extreme metal band Meshuggah from Oumeo was the inspiration for "Arr (Scar)". Ode," which has the dual meanings of "doomed" and "desolate," is based on several recordings by Swedish opera singers Birgit Nilsson and Jussi Björling. The first two pieces were premiered by the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra and Kent Nagano, to whom the works were dedicated, and by the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra and Baldur Brenniman. The Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra conducted by Daniel Harding performed it for the first time as a "trilogy" with "Ode" added. This album contains the live recording. The "3rd Retrospective" is a polska based on a song sung by a farmer's widow in a community play written by Nudin's father, Batte Saarin. The composition was commissioned by one of Sweden's leading string orchestras, Musica Vitae, and Marlin Bröhlmann, leader of the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra.
