In 1980, she won the second prize at the 10th International Chopin Piano Competition, following Dan Tai Son, and two special prizes (Polonaise Prize and Concerto Prize), which made her famous all over the world. She is a Russian female pianist who has made a name for herself around the world. She studied at the Moscow Conservatory under Victor Merzhanov, a famous pianist and teacher of the Russian Piano School, and after winning a prize at the Chopin Competition, she became a Polish citizen and moved her main activities to the "homeland of Chopin," where she developed her international career as one of the world's leading Chopin players. In 2021, it will already be 10 years since she passed away at the young age of 58 on March 1, 2011, after suffering from an illness.The recording was conducted from 2007 to 2010 as a project of the National Fryderyk Chopin Institute (NIFC) in Warsaw, Poland, to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the death of Chopin. The 14-CD box set of Chopin's solo and concerto works on an Erard period piano, dating from 1849, was recorded between 2007 and 2010 as a project of the National Fryderyk Chopin Institute (NIFC) in Warsaw. From among the many rare period pianos made during Chopin's time in the collection of the National Fryderyk Chopin Institute (NIFC), Chebanova preferred to play the 1849 Erard. After this fateful encounter with the Erard, Shebanova was given a new passion and a new sense of mission, and dedicated the last years of her life to the composers she loved the most. With the exception of a few pieces, chamber works, and songs, this is the first time that Chopin's major piano works have been recorded by a single pianist on a historical instrument (period piano), and it is also the conclusion of the interpretation of Chopin that Tatyana Shebanova, a rare Chopin player, reached in her later years.
