Description:
"Aliquand," a Promising Young Ensemble from France A Debut Album That Early Music Fans Won’t Want to Miss! Guillmann: Solo Violin Sonatas and Other Chamber Music Works “Aliquand,” an ensemble led by world-renowned violinist Stéphanie Poire, has released its debut album on the muso label! What makes this album particularly noteworthy is its exceptionally rare program, consisting entirely of works by Louis-Gabriel Guillemin (1705–1770), a musician active in 18th-century France! Although Guillemin’s works are known from several recordings by the virtuoso G. Collard, they still rarely have the opportunity to be performed or recorded, making this an album that fans simply cannot miss. The highlight of the album is S. Poele’s refined violin solo! The works of Guymann, who made a name for himself as a court violinist to Louis XV, are peppered throughout with virtuosic melodies designed to showcase the soloist’s mastery. Unaccompanied sonatas were rare in France at the time, and many of the sonatas included on this album are accompanied by a basso continuo, such as the harpsichord. Not only do they feature elegant ornamentation and beautiful arpeggios, but the deep, minor-key tones that evoke inner turmoil are simply exquisite! You’ll be enchanted by Poire’s solo tone, which is crystal-clear and resonant even in the highest registers. This album also features numerous ensemble pieces. In addition to enjoying the sounds of pastoral instruments like the musette and bagpipes, the gallant melodies reminiscent of Rococo art are well worth listening to. True to the meaning of the word “Amusement,” this album is brimming with open, cheerful melodies! King International
