This is a collection of works by Kreps, one of Bach’s most accomplished students. He studied in Leipzig and enjoyed a successful career as a church organist. He compiled his own works into a collection of keyboard etudes. His lively compositions—including suites and sonatas—are particularly impressive. The performer, Michele Benuzzi, has made numerous recordings for Brilliant Classics. He has garnered attention for his performances of relatively obscure 17th-century works.
