Description:
A 7CD BOX covering the career of Iron Butterfly, the progenitors of psychedelic and progressive/art rock! Formed in San Diego, CA in 1966, Iron Butterfly signed with ATCO in 1967 and recorded their debut album "Heaven" in October of that year, but the band was forced to change members before its release and faced the possibility that the album would remain unreleased. After a heated battle, "Heavy" was released in 1968 and charted on the Billboard charts, eventually earning a gold disc. Their second album, IN-A-GADDA-DA-VIDA, released in June 1968, became one of the most iconic albums of the Summer of Love, reaching #4 on the U.S. charts. The third album, "Ball," was even more successful, reaching #3 in the U.S. and spawning the hit singles "Soul Experience" and "In the Time of Our Lives. After a change of members, the band released their fourth album, METAMORPHOSIS, in May 1970, and took a heavier turn, but the band disbanded in April 1971. Many of their legacies can be found on this album from their time with ATCO.This album includes all of the studio work they did for ATCO, as well as "Live," released in 1970, and a show at the Fillmore East in April 1968. It is an all-inclusive collection of the band's golden era.
