Dodgson studied at the Royal College of Music and worked for many years as a producer for BBC Radio 3. A distant relative of Lewis Carroll and the son of a Symbolist painter, he developed a unique style that fused classical elegance with a modern sensibility. This album features the world premiere recording of “Three Songs” based on poems by Beddoes, “Daphneto Apollo”—a piece inspired by Greek mythology with beautiful guitar accompaniment—and “Bush Ballads,” based on Australian folk songs. Performed by some of Britain’s leading vocalists, this album vividly brings to life Dodgson’s delicate and intellectual world of song.
