Foxtrot" is a type of dance music that originated in the United States and is said to have been derived from ragtime. In the so-called "Roaring Twenties" of the 1920s and 1930s, between the two world wars, this music, along with jazz, shimmy (shoulder shaking dance to music), and the Charleston, which were also in the same vein, became very popular, and European composers trying to free themselves from Germanic Wagnerianism began to take root in the United States. It took hold among European composers, and quickly spread on the wave of record and movie hits. Pianist Gottlieb Wallisch, who has pursued a variety of foxtrots, has released three albums of "Foxtrots and Surrounding Music," and this fourth collection takes the listener back to the Paris and Brussels of that time. This fourth collection takes listeners on a journey back in time to Paris and Brussels.
