Beethoven (1770-1827)

Description:

Rachel Podger finally begins recording Beethoven! Rachel Podger, hailed by TIMES as "Britain's incomparable and honored baroque violinist" (TIMES), whose performances of Bach, Vivaldi, Mozart, and more have captivated audiences around the world, and Matthew Gee, whose Grammy-winning trombone version of "Winterreise" (8.574093) with Christopher Glynn on keyboard is still fresh in our minds, will now record Rachel Podger's Beethoven violin sonatas. The two perform Beethoven's Violin Sonatas with Christopher Glynn, a Grammy-winning keyboardist who is also remembered for his collaboration with Matthew Gee on the trombone version of "Winter's Journey" (8.574093). This is the second collaboration between the two, following their previous release of Mozart's Violin Sonatas in a completed edition (CCSSA42721). Of Beethoven's ten violin sonatas, the first is considered to be the first "Clavier Sonata with violin accompaniment" written by Beethoven in his late 20s, the most popular and most popular is No. 5, nicknamed "Spring" for its bright and beautiful ideas, and the last, No. 10, which was written only late in his career and shows a glimpse of the Romanticism, is the only one. The collection includes works from a wide range of periods, including No. 5, the most popular and brightly beautiful of his compositions and nicknamed "Spring," and No. 10, the only work written late in his career that shows glimpses of romanticism. Pogger uses the famous 1718 Stradivari instrument owned by the Royal Academy of Music here, and together with the 1840 Erard played by Glynn, he weaves a clear flow of the music with a grainy tone, skillfully portraying the character of each work and conveying its splendor. This is available on SACD, including multi-channel. Naxos Japan
