Description:

Wakabayashi Studio 5th Anniversary Commemorative Project: The Third in a series of recordings of Beethoven's complete piano sonatas by Irina Medjieva, a young and talented recording artist from Russia. The series started in 2008 to commemorate the 5th anniversary of the Wakabayashi Studio, and both the first and second recordings have been highly acclaimed, winning "Record Geijutsu Special Mention" in various fields and garnering a great deal of attention. This long-awaited new release, as before, is a 2-CD set containing 7 sonatas from the early and middle periods. The long-awaited new CD set includes seven sonatas from the early and middle periods. Medjieva's performance of Beethoven's ambitious sonatas, which are full of ambition on the path to becoming a master composer, is a straightforward, unpretentious approach, and she delivers a superb performance that is filled with fresh sensibility. Her brilliant technique and the variety of tones and sounds that combine power and delicacy are wonderful, conveying the core of the work in a simple appearance. The performance begins at ......, and we are thrown halfway into a place where the density of time gradually increases. The listener is forced to watch the process of time ripening in the space where Medjieva's piano performance is playing, and we can only stare at it in awe, but almost in dismay.Time is ripe" is not a Japanese word that fits her, but she is a pianist who can give us such a rare experience. Her third Beethoven sonata album confirms this. (From the liner notes by Yu Kunishige. (From the liner notes) [Comment courtesy of Wakabayashi Studio].
