This is the debut live album from blues guitarist Joanna Connor—whose breathtaking slide guitar performances have taken the world by storm—and it truly showcases her finest work! With her astonishingly fast slide playing and innovative guitar techniques, she delivers her own unique arrangements of classics by Chicago legends—from her signature Elmore James numbers to songs by Muddy Waters, Little Walter, and Magic Sam. This live recording also features a wide range of other styles, from New Orleans funk to classic Blind Faith tracks. Recorded in November 2025 in Norwood, Massachusetts. Joanna Connor was born in Brooklyn, New York, in 1962. In 1984, she moved to Chicago, the birthplace of the blues, where she honed her guitar skills by performing alongside Junior Wells, Buddy Guy, and others in clubs. She signed with Blind Pig Records and made her debut in 1989 with *Believe It!*. She released albums consistently, including her second album, *Fight*, in 1992 and *Slidetime* in 1998, reigning as the undisputed queen of blues-rock guitarists in both name and deed. In 2002, she released *The Joanna Connor Band* on MC Records. In 2003, she released *Mercury Blues*, an unconventional collaboration with a chamber ensemble, but this marked her last release before stepping away from the scene. She gradually resumed her activities in the 2010s. In 2014, a stunning video of her performing slide and tapping solos at a blues festival went viral, causing a massive sensation with over 16 million views on YouTube. Taking this as an opportunity, she announced her full-fledged comeback, releasing *Six-String Stories* in 2016 and *Rise* in 2019. Now based in Chicago’s club scene, she is attracting attention by performing at festivals around the world.
