Lost and Found", Masaya Mifune's ninth album, is a work that shows Masaya Mifune's "whereabouts" more nakedly than ever and vividly reveals the fantasy that resides in his songwriting. The concept is "Not this world, but In this world - my world. Rather than inspiring others, the album affirms the "present" and the "self" through introspective expression. One of the album's most iconic songs, "'You're the Best Person in This World'" sings, "You're the most beautiful person in this world. By daring to unleash a simple choice of words in an unguarded manner, the song sublimates a universal message of affirmation with a hint of cynicism. It is a hymn to humanity that resonates straight with the listener, extolling the preciousness of living with the complex problems of today. The prototype of the song was born several years ago, but it was finally released to the world at the timing of this album. The words, set to an unusually simple 8-bit beat, strike the listener straight to the heart. Musical challenge is also a major pillar of this album. The preceding single "Kitsunebi," a fusion of trackmaking and band sound, expresses the ancient Japanese world of foxfire and ukiyoe while making full use of Western instruments. The song shimmers the boundary between there and here, and is an attempt to show a new horizon for the group, which has been depicting Western soundscapes with Japanese echoes. CRYSTAL (feat. Moeka Shiotsuka)," a surprise performance at "BEAR NIGHT" in 2024, is a long-awaited collaboration with Moeka Shiotsuka of Sheep Literature. Originally label mates, the two have deepened their relationship and worked together on a remix of "BLUE SOULS," and this song brought their relationship to fruition. As the title suggests, the two singers' voices echo dazzlingly like crystals, and they also serve as a beacon of hope to illuminate Mifune's progress. Mifune dropped out of school in high school due to the pain in his heart. He was searching for a reason to live, and found music as an answer to his thirst.As the album title "Lost and Found" suggests, this is a story about "what has been lost and what will be found again" by people who have been connected to society through music.
