Utopian Ashes" is a dream duo album by Primal Scream's Bobby Gillespie and Jenny Beth of The Savages, a rock band that has written a long history of folk rock, rave, rock and roll, dub, electro, and many other incarnations. Bobby Gilespie, frontman of Primal Scream, and Jehnny Beth, vocalist of Savages, a post-punk band that has been gaining attention since its formation in 2011, have collaborated on the album "Utopian Ashes. Beth), vocalist for the post-punk band Savages, will release their collaborative album "Utopian Ashes". Bobby and Jehnny met in 2015 when they performed with legendary American rock duo Suicide at the Barbican in London. Next, in September 2016, Jenny joined Primal Scream on stage at the Massive Attack outdoor concert in Bristol to duet on the Nancy Sinatra/Lee Hazlewood classic "Some Velvet Morning". The connection deepened, and the following year Primal Scream joined Jenny and her musical partner, Johnny Hostile, for a session. This led to this album.In addition to Bobby and Jenny, "Utopian Ashes" features Primal Scream's Andrew Innes (guitar), Martin Duffy (piano), and Darren Mooney (drums), as well as Johnny Hostile (bass), who has also been a solo collabo for The Savages and Beth. ), who has also been a solo collaborator with the Savages and Beth. The album is inspired by classic country-soul duets such as "Grievous Angel" by Gram Parsons and Emmylou Harris and "We Go Together" by George Jones and Tammy Wynette.
