These were also the charming songs sung over the years by the great tenors of the 20th century, such as Richard Tauber, Rudolf Schock, and Fritz Wunderlich.Kaufman loved these songs so much that he began his professional career in 1993 singing the lead role in the comedy "A Night in Venice. Since then, the idea that he has been developing over the years has finally come to fruition in the form of a new album. In 2014, Kaufmann also released "You Are My Heart's Content," a collection of arias and popular songs popular in early 20th century Germany, and this album is a Viennese version and sequel to that album. This album is a gorgeous disc backed by the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Adam Fischer. With the exception of the New Year's Concert and "Die Fledermaus," the Vienna Philharmonic has never performed Johann Strauss or operettas in their repertoire, but they have been chosen for this album, and their brilliant Viennese sound is everywhere. The duets also feature Rachel Willis-Sorensen, who will play the role of Mulgrito in "Faust" in the Royal Opera's Japan tour in September 2019, with beautiful lyricism and graceful phrasing.
