Description:
Carlo, the son of a lord, and Louisa, a village girl, are in love. Of course, Carlo's father is against it. He orders her to marry a high-born widow. Louisa and her father are captured, but Carlo's father also has a dark past. The misunderstanding is never cleared up, and the tragedy comes to an end. Verdi himself was troubled in his private life at the time of this work, and it is well known for its depiction of complex human drama. In this performance, Domingo's presence is wonderful and overwhelms everything. Levine's conducting is also very fluid and perfectly expresses the sound that Verdi wanted. Sony Music
