Dominik Wagner, a virtuoso double bassist born in Vienna in 1997, shows the appeal of the double bass as a solo instrument in this remarkable disc. He performs a wide variety of pieces with a warm and soft sound from low to high notes, full of songfulness. The piano is played by Latvian Rauma Sklide. This album is a tribute to the double bass, and features works by Maurice Ravel, Claude Debussy, Gabriel Fauré, Philip Glass, Max Richter, Charlie Chaplin, Miroslav Skolykus, Peteris Vasks, John Rutter, and many others in a variety of musical Dominique Wagner performs his own arrangements of works in a variety of musical styles. <Dominique Wagner (double bass) was born in Vienna in 1997. Initially trained as a cellist, he switched to double bass in 2007 at the age of 10. He was a member of the Vienna Boys Choir for four years. Studied at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna with Prof. Josef Niederhammer and others, and from 2015 to 2022 with Prof. Dorin Mark at the Nuremberg Augsburg College of Music. Active in both solo and chamber music, he has achieved success through his tireless search for new sounds in new formations and his tireless efforts to expand his repertoire through composition commissions and his own arrangements.The duo with jazz double bassist Georg Brainschmidt and the clarinet trio with Vera Karner and Aurelia Bisovan are among the results. was born in 1982 in Riga, Latvia, USSR. Her father is a violinist and conductor. Rauma is the youngest of three musical sisters, and began piano lessons at the age of five, entering the Latvian Conservatory of Music. She then studied at the Hamburg Conservatory under Professor Volker Banfiert. In addition to performing with her sister Baiba, she is also active as a soloist and chamber musician, and founded the Skryde Piano Quartet, whose CDs are available on Berlin Classics, SONY Classical, Orfeo, and Deutsche Grammophon.
